to the Center for Complementary Medicine and the practice of
T. Reid Kavieff,
D.O., Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. Doctors of osteopathic medicine are
fully licensed physicians who have the training to provide services to patients
in all medical specialties. In addition to taking the same types of classes as
M.D.s, doctors of osteopathic medicine complete additional courses in diagnosing
musculoskeletal dysfunctions and are trained to use osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), a hands-on approach to diagnosing, treating and preventing
illness, injury and pain. Osteopathic physicians are
trained to examine the whole person to reach a diagnosis, without solely
focusing on the symptoms, and understand how the body’s systems are
interconnected and affect each other.
Dr. Kavieff has more than 27 years of experience
specializing in osteopathic manipulative treatment and cranial osteopathy to treat infants, children, athletes
and adults. He is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Special
Proficiency in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and the American Osteopathic
Board of Family Medicine, and is board eligible in medical acupuncture. He completed training in the UCLA Medical Acupuncture Program. In
addition to OMT, Dr. Kavieff performs acupuncture and practices nutritional
medicine and when appropriate uses bioidentical hormones.
