Osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) can be useful as either an adjunctive or primary approach to most conditions.
Cranial osteopathy is part of the practice of osteopathic medicine. What is unique about cranial osteopathy is that the D.O. actually assists the body’s own healing forces during treatment. There is a dynamic interaction occurring during treatment where the D.O. senses mechanical restriction and obstructed fluid flow, makes a diagnosis, and then facilitates release.
Osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) can be useful as either an adjunctive or primary approach to most conditions. For example, Dr. Kavieff has treated patients with pain from metastatic cancers, and by addressing mechanical dysfunctions with gentle techniques, their pain and quality of life have improved. OMT generally works within 4-6 visits; that is when obvious changes occur.

Founder of StillWorks, Dr. Reid Kavieff brings over four decades of experience in Traditional Osteopathy and holistic care. A graduate of the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Kavieff was mentored by some of the most respected figures in the field, earning the Fred Mitchell, Sr., D.O. Award for excellence in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM). He later founded the OMM Residency Program at Botsford General Hospital and has advanced training in nutritional therapy and functional medicine.
In 2025, he renamed his practice StillWorks—a tribute to the founder of osteopathy, Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, and to the fact that at 70, Dr. Kavieff is still working with passion and purpose. His mission: to help patients achieve lasting wellness through the power of traditional osteopathic medicine.
When he works on me his hands are really warm and like magic. He never hurts me and I feel so much better after. He is super nice and when I was little I wasn’t afraid of him like some other doctors.

In 1996 I was diagnosed with a herniated disc in my neck and lower back. Traditional medical doctors advised me to stop all physical activity and warned If I continued, I would end up in a wheelchair! After seeing Dr. Kavieff, not only am I completely out of pain, I am extremely healthy and more active than I was 10 years ago. Dr. Kavieff has completely transformed my life and added great value and significance. I am still a patient today and I am forever grateful!
